We're Set [Sep. 21st, 2005|03:53 pm]
Wizard of Changes -- ©cdozo 2004 to 2015
[The river is |tiredtired]

I've got a week's worth of food and water and a lot of Gatorade. I have coffee, filters, sugar, evaporated milk and sweetened condensed milk. I have two cans of Coleman fuel for my stove. I also got a lot of no cook food.

I bought a Coleman propane lantern, two sets of mantles and three tanks of fuel. I can return all of that next week if I don't use it.

I found some nifty half size glow sticks in cool colors that were cheap. They'll get used at Kerrville if we don't need them before then. We have tons of candles and candle lanterns. We also have plenty of batteries, and two battery operated radios. Both vehicles are gassed up.

And we have Monopoly, Battleship, Mummy Math, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle board game, two decks of playing cards and tons of crayons and paper.

I hope the storm looses it's oomph before it hits the coast. But if it decides to visit Austin, I'm as prepared as I can be.

Theories, plans

That is my Carol, a theory that the storm will be long and knock out everything and a plan to take care in case it actually happens. I haven't made any special considerations for Rita, however. EXCEPT, move to the other side of the Atlantic.

Re: Theories, plans

But you're the Sir. You should be here protecting us from the storm.

Instead, we'll just have to wave goodbye to you as the storm sucks us past Argentina and on out into oblivion.

Re: Theories, plans

I have to say, your shelves have come in really handy. They're perfect for storing our hurricane supplies.

Thanks.

Room for two more?

Wow, you sure are prepared. Got room for two more (plus two cats) if things get really bad? I'll bring the Cuervo and the "rita" mix!

Re: Room for two more?

Feel free to move on in. We got two bags of cat food, tons of water, plenty of Gatorade, some Baileys and some sherry. We also have ten cans of El Pico, because I bought five cans and then couldn't find them. So I bought five more and then found the first ones.

Instead of a hurricane party, we'll have a Moco tropical storm party.

But where are YOU staying? Is there any room inside for you and G? Do you have matches? Cat litter? Photos in a ziploc? A printout of your address book? A sharpie marker to write my phone number on G's arm? Plastic and a bucket for a solar still? Activated charcoal for I don't know why? A whistle for you and one for G? Clean spoons to eat the icecream with when the power goes off? Bedding in drybag? A baseball bat? A gun? You know, now that everyone on LJ knows you're so stocked up, no one is doing any shopping. They're just writing down your address (5209 Roadrunner Terrace, just before the low water crossing on FM 4443) and when they need coffee or Mummy Math, they will come and take it.

Hey! If the storm hits, you can play both your radios at the same time and it will be like stereo!

And remember, dig a basement. Now. Actaully, maybe you should bring a car jack into the house if there's going to be a very serious situation. Then you could just lift up the debris and wiggle out.

Sounds like fun.

Aaaaargh! You gave them my address! Now the looters will come from New Orleans and rob me. Ahhhhhhhh!

Good thing I have a baseball bat and a tarp. I'll put the tarp down and then whack the bad guys upside their heads. They'll fall down on the tarp. I'll fold it up, drag them outside, and drop them in the creek by the low water crossing at FM 4443. They will float away and never bother anyone again.

Ahhh. What a nice way to get out my aggression. I fell much better now.

Way to go! Glad to hear you are so prepared. You and everyone I know will be in my thoughts.
