Breathing, All Creatures Are [Mar. 11th, 2008|10:14 am]

[The river is |scared unnerved]

I woke up this morning and coughed and my throat started to spasm. For a few very unnerving seconds I couldn't breathe at all. It was way too exciting.

I'm trying to figure out if it was a Medically Significant Event or just a dry throat. I bought a "permanent" water bottle a couple of days ago and I haven't adjusted to it yet. The mouth of the bottle is too wide and I keep spilling water when I drink. Because of that, I think I didn't drink any water while I slept so my throat got really dry.

I'm going to rehydrate and see how I feel.

Stop taking the cough syrup and call the doctor now.

I stopped the cough syrup. I'm going to hold off on the doctor. I really think it was due to a severely dry throat.

I switched back to the old-style water bottle.

maybe you should have called it. 'Breathing, some creatures are'?

Oh yes, and be sure to tell G that trick with a Bic pen in case you need an emergency tracheotomy.

Georgie Howser, M.D.

I poured alcohol over the small blade of my Swiss Army knife and laid it on a paper towel along with a Bic pen and a pad. I told him to take my vitals and write them and the time down on the pad before he starts cutting.

He's ready to go if needs be.

Re: Georgie Howser, M.D.

Tell him that practice makes perfect. And please stop using that icon of the blood-taking needle. I faint every time I see it and one of these times I might get a head injury or break a valuable antique or spill something and waste food. So at least put a black bar over the needle part.

Also, you might want to be sure G knows the difference between vittles, victuals, and vitals or you could find yourself disemboweled AND trached.
