Beauty

Whatever group it was within The Intelligent Design Team that designed this little guy  clearly deserves The Artistic Deities award. I bet there were some Navajo and Japanese gods on the team. The blending of colors and the careful attention to the detail of the pattern seems to point that way.

What a gorgeous picture! These critters are really busy now. I've had one on my window sill off and on for days--it's using the young trees just outside the drip line so I see it on the trees (when it's usually green) on the ground (when it's usually brown to golden--the in-between color) and on my window shade in every color phase.

Today, my guy leapt off the window sill in a way I've never seen before, landing on the ground about 3 feet away, then jumped (!) up onto the tree trunk about a foot off the ground. From window (golden) to ground to tree, he was already changing color ("he" because of the red throat fan.)

Again, really, really REALLY gorgeous shot.

I love watching anoles. They come out to hunt when I water my compost in the morning. I love how they lap up the small bugs and then leap to capture a big one.

This guy was out at the land. He was momentarily trapped at the top of a hand cart so he froze and tried to be invisible.

I'm glad you like the shot. Thanks. :-)

Don't be surprised if you look now and the lizard picture seems different. My sister suggested that I lower the quality of the public version and try to sell the high resolution image. So now the version in my post is a much lower resolution version. :-(

whoa

Did you take that picture? If so, you must have a new camera or lens. Which? Nice shot. I could swear I see his gullet moving.

Re: whoa

No it's still my D-80. The lizard was just really good at posing.

Actually I had him trapped at the top of a hand cart. He had nowhere to go, so he froze hoping to blend in. I braced my camera on the other handle and got the shot.

Re: whoa

This should be a makeup ad. That eye shadow is arresting. THis is a superfine picture. If I were you, I'd watermark it, upload only a low-res version, disable "download the large size" and then I'd try to sell it. (Then I'd buy it.)(If I were no longer you, but me.)

Re: whoa

I've done it, but I liked the other version better.

If I don't figure out how to sell it, the beauty will be wasted.

Re: whoa

FYI, The other version is still there. Feel free to log on to Flickr as me and get yourself a print of it. You will be me, but you will be getting the print for you. Then you can turn back into you and enjoy the print.

Re: whoa

Beauty is never wasted. All who've commented here have gotten pleasure for the picture, you saw the little guy and must have said 'ah!' And it's running around looking all lizard sexy and pretty. Rain don't fall for the flowers you know... Also, you could post the big version here and just keep the lo-res on Flickr. THe other thing to keep people from taking it is to not tag it. It's a lovely lizard and lovely picture.

Re: whoa

Nice work. Yes, he was really blended in - could barely see him. :-)

Did you have a nice b'day?

I'm here in LA with Mom - getting her up on Skype, with more memory in computer, and a new monitor too.

I'm thinking of switching to a Nikon so that Nancy and B and I can share lenses - and you too. Also, my Canon viewfinder is tiny and I feel like the blind photographer.
