Wizard of Changes -- ©cdozo 2004 to 2015
The hippies who removed the plumbing fixtures and took out the old flooring at the house on the land, damaged the drain in the bathtub. It's an ancient claw-footed tub and you can't buy parts that size any more. So, after much grumbling and doom saying, my plumber sawed off the broken part and determined that Hooray! he could get a modern part to fit in its place. He's not done yet, so I have to meet him back there tomorrow, but it seems like things will be OK.
When I got there today to meet the plumber, George-my-yard-hippie had painted the wall behind where the tub goes with primer, painted and installed baseboard and quarter round all around the bathroom, replaced the sink and vanity and put the incredibly heavy claw-footed tub back in the bathroom and put it on little pads of carpet so the plumber can slide it out of the way while he's working on the pipes. I say it again, my yard hippie rocks!
On the floor front, the new kitchen floor has a problem. There's a mound in the middle where the glue didn't stick. I called the floor guy, and he was not at all annoyed or defensive. He said, "I'll take a look at it and figure out how to fix it."
And then tonight my soon-to-be-ex landlady called and offered to help me get my sofa back into the living room tomorrow.
So, thus far, everything seems to be going pretty well. I'm a little amazed by it all.
