I used the neighborhood bulletin board to organize a bike ride for this weekend. People have responded positively and it looks like at least a few people will show up. There's an amazing paved bike trail an easy ride away from here, so we're going there.

I have no idea how this is going to go, the group's bike-riding skills will likely be quite varied. My plan is to turn them loose and see what happens. If it goes well, I'm going to see if people would be up for doing it every other week or so.

I hate organizing things, but I figure that, if I have to have neighbors, they might as well be entertaining. I'm encouraged by how nice all the neighbors I've met have been. Even so I'm nervous, but I think this will be fun.

Here's a picture of my bike:

It was really fun. About 6 people came. We mostly stuck together. The faster people would ride ahead and then slow down. I turned around when I got tired, which was at about 4 miles. A couple of people turned around with me but most of the folks rode on to The Hill, aka Heart Attack Hill. I'm going to take it slow building up my endurance, but I'll get there eventually. Here's a picture of the group at the beginning of the trail:

That looks like a lot of fun. I need to get back on my bike, but I hurt my neck and shoulder (again!) with a fall on Saturday in a parking lot. We were carrying a folded table across the parking lot, and it sloped, and somehow I took a bad step. Had to let my side of the table fall and was then afraid it would come "tumbling after". My neck is really stiff.

Be gentle to your neck and keep it warm. If you take care of it, it will heal soon enough.

If you ever feel like bringing your bike to the city and trying out the bike trail, let me know. It's really nice to ride for miles without even having to think about cars. And it's a beautiful trail.
