According to the map in my previous post, in the area around the intersection where I lived in New Orleans, there was over 4 feet of water.|
This makes it more real and scary to me. That neighborhood was nowhere near the river. It was so...normal. I would never have considered a flood to be a hazard when I lived there. Even if they had said the levee broke, I would have thought it was far enough away, so it was safe.
Remember that I was eighteen then. By the time I was twenty five or so I would have believed it.
The place I lived was a three story rooming house. So people would have been OK on the second and third floors, if they had water. But even so, it feels really weird to think of that place being flooded.
