We have heat now.

It was nice not having heat. We snuggled under warm blankets together. We went to the Y and swam and then sat in the hot tub, the steam room and the sauna. And we went to the movies.

But it's nice to be warm at home too.

It's nice to have a choice. And I find it easier to deal with cold around me when I'm camping than when I'm in a cold house. That's probably psychological.

I like being in a house when it's cold and raining because I like having the large dry space. It's easier to cook and eat when it's not wet. When it's dry...I guess it's about equal between camping and house. Except I find it easier to deal with no heat here at this house because when we don't have heat, we still have hot water. Heat is nice, but hot showers are wonderful.

Yes, hot water is great...and a house is dryer than a tent...I guess with me it is psychological. If I'm not in a house and it's really cold, my metabolism says "Oops, better gear up for being chilly." If I'm in a house, I *expect* to be warm, and my metabolism wants to lie down on the job and go to sleep.

Hot showers

That is the key element. I seldom turn on the gas for heat. I prefer to sleep under a ton of blankets and walk around the house in sweaters and jackets. But when it gets time to clean up, I am a tenderfoot.

Right now at the gym I go to there isn't any hot water. Swimming there reminds me of Deep Eddy, though it is a few degrees warmer. Very few people are in the pool or working out on the weights because they don't have a place to clean up afterwards. When I finish my exercises, I stand next to the running shower and splash the cold water over me. At some point I get brave enough to stand underneath the sparkling clear waters. I can do the same at home without hot water but it seems even more primitive, though that isn't the word I'm looking for. Impediment, misery, something more on that line.

Glad you are warm.
