Some Timely Heinlein Quotes And An Olbermann Video

"People who go broke in a big way never miss any meals. It is the poor jerk who is shy a half slug who must tighten his belt." (Lazarus Long in Time Enough For Love)

There has grown up in the minds of certain groups in this country the notion that because a man or corporation has made a profit out of the public for a number of years, the government and the courts are charged with the duty of guaranteeing such profit in the future, even in the face of changing circumstances and contrary to public interest. This strange doctrine is not supported by statute or common law. Neither individuals nor corporations have any right to come into court and ask that the clock of history be stopped, or turned back. (Dr Pinero in Lifeline)

"The phrase "we (I) (you) simply must —" designates some thing that need not be done. "That goes without saying" is a red warning. "Of course" means you had best check it yourself. These small-change clichés and others like them, when read correctly, are reliable channel markers." (Lazarus Long in Time Enough For Love)

Here's a video to watch. Apparently it's from November 2007. It's Keith Olbermann interviewing Naomi Klein who wrote a book called The Shock Doctrine. In the interview, Ms Klein warns that the next "shock" in the US may well be financial.
