Lost Mind [Feb. 9th, 2009|12:23 pm]
Wizard of Changes -- ©cdozo 2004 to 2015
[The river is |tiredtired]

I woke up with a horrible migraine this morning. The kind where it seems impossible that anything could make it better. In spite of my disbelief, the meds worked. Hooray for meds!

I've had a cold and off-and-on low-grade headaches for about a week. Hopefully this was the Grand Finale.

I sympathize. I get a migraines now and again, nowhere near as often as I did when I was younger, thank goodness! Mine induce vomiting as one of the first symptoms, so meds don't stay down. There's an injectable, I was told, but the docs want to run tests "to make sure it's really a migraine" or so I've been told. I already KNOW it's a migraine!

One of the first meds I take is an anti-nausea pill, either Zofran or Phenergan. I also have Phenergan suppositories on hand if needs be. In addition, I have nasal Imitrex which is in an easy-to-use single-use spray dispenser.

If it's not too bad, I take prescription pills (Maxalt or Axert) and Naproxin. But if it's a bad one, I have my more powerful supplies in reserve.

The only problem is sometimes I wake up too sick to get to the meds I keep by my bed. But that's happening less often with time, so usually I manage OK.

Glad you are better

Drugs are one of the wonders of the modern age. Antibiotics may not be with us for ever because of resistance but pain killers can always be put to good use.

That really really sucks that you get migraines. As I mentioned, I've had a few in my lifetime, and they were bizarre and terrible. I know you must have thought of everything and tried everything to get rid of them. Food allergies? Austin allergy? Stress? Vitamin or mineral deficiency? I hope I hope I hope they go away soon.
