Taking Longer And Costing More [Sep. 4th, 2009|03:51 pm]

[The river is |frustratedfrustrated]

So the hippie handyman and handywoman who are putting the flooring in the house on the land didn't take the force of the claw-footed tub on the bathroom floor into account, even without water. So they got the linoleum installed and put the tub back in and the claw-feet sank right though the linoleum. Now they have to pull it all out and put in tile. I told them to check the load rating for the tile before they buy it.

Needless to say, I'm feeling a bit frustrated right now.

I've always thought that a Strength of Materials course should be part of the required middle school curriculum. It would save so many lives and so much money if people just had the notion that you can't use clothesline for rappelling and that heavy things with little feet are even heavier than they even actually are. (I guess I should have taken the supplemental "Explaining Strength of Materials Concepts in normal English", but I didn't.)
