[The frogs are singing |Don Williams singing I Believe In You in my head]

I woke up at about 5 this morning to a raging thunderstorm. I unplugged the computers and fell back asleep. I woke up next at 7 am, way too late to get G to the school bus on time. So we got dressed and headed off to school. When I got outside, I found that my rain buckets, which were empty last night, had maybe 6 to 8 inches of water in them. I checked my rain gauge and it showed that we'd gotten about an inch of rain.

As we headed down MoPac I could see a dim wannabe rainbow that got brighter and more defined as we drove south until it was a complete arc with the most vivid colors I've ever seen in a rainbow. It was beautiful.

So we talked about the story of Noah and the dove and the rainbow and what they symbolized. I got G to school about two minutes late and headed back up MoPac. The rainbow was gone, and it was pouring down rain out of a mostly blue sky. It wasn't dark and gray, so visibility was good. The drive home was easy and it was nice to see how green the grass and the trees are getting. It's been so dry for so long. This rain is so nice.

Sounds spectacular. Sometimes it's nice not to have a camera with you. I like the way you describe things.

Did you know that some ultra-orthodox Jews see a rainbow as a threat from God? They feel He's reminding them that He could destroy the world any time He wants to and it upsets them when they see one. I think that's so dumb.

"Oh, the Lord is good to me,
and so I thank the lord,
for giving me the things I need,
the sun and the rain and the apple seed,
the lord is good to me"

We used to sing this before every meal in Waldorf school :-)

You Know It Too!

We believe that singing it brings rain, hence the title of my post.

We should sing it together at Kerrville next year if the drought is still on.

My daughter goes to a Waldorf school and has been singing this song for the last week! :-) Had to laugh when I saw the post!

I saw a weird rainbow the other day. It went straight up (no obvious curve) to a hole in the clouds. That part of the sky was overcast except for the hole. The sun was about 20 degrees away in the sky.

It looked like a science-fiction rainbow ladder coming out of a spaceship behind the clouds.
